Frequently asked questions

Searching for a Bridal Gown

Congratulations! You are about to embark in the wonderful journey of selecting your bridal gown. Right now, you can leave the stress at the door and put yourself in the hands of the experts. You may purchase the first dress you try on. You may choose the middle dress. Our goal with each of our brides is to find a gown that “feels” beautiful. The style we help you choose will capture the essence of your individual personality and allow you… to be you.

Do I need an appointment?
Appointments are strongly recommended. If you did not schedule an appointment and there is a bridal consultant available, we would gladly accommodate you. It is best, however, to phone in advance to be sure.

What is the role of the Bridal Consultant?
The first order of business is to listen to you. When she understands a little more about who you are and what you are looking for, she can go to work for you. She will offer her expertise in whatever way she can in for the sole purpose of finding the perfect dress in order to make you feel like you’re on top of the world. Our bridal consultants provide you with the proper fit, suggest styles, and actually show you, as closely as possible how you will look on your wedding day. After you have found your gown, she will coordinate the matching veil.. We take pride in knowing that you’ll find the most important piece of clothing that you’ll ever own, right here in our store, and more importantly be guided along the process.

When should I order my gown?
If you are looking for your bridal gown, then you should place your order as soon as you know that the style is right for you to wear on your wedding day. Styles change, inventory changes, prices change. You, generally stay you. It really does not make sense to put your efforts into choosing your gown now and then reinvesting your time to do it all over at some future date.

I am excited about finding my gown but my wedding is 2 ½ years away?
We are all different. On any given day we have gowns in our storage facility for weddings 1-2 years away. If you are the type of person who likes to plan ahead or if it just happens that you have found your gown, it’s perfectly okay to place your order in advance. We take care of keeping your gown preserved and safe until it’s time for your fitting.

What if my wedding is 2 ½ weeks away?
We can do this too. Our showroom is full of hand selected gowns. We carry all styles. We carry all sizes. Many gowns are even discounted to accommodate all budgets. If it can be done, we will do it. And frankly, we don’t believe there is anything we can’t do.

What can I expect to pay for a wedding gown in your store?
On the very high end, our gowns are price to $3600. On the average, about $1200-$1500. On the low end, we’ll say $250. There are always sale/sample gowns available and we can accommodate all budgets.

Once I order my gown how long does it take for my gown to arrive?
The short answer is about 6 months from the time you leave your 1st deposit to the time we receive your gown into storage. While the shipping given by many manufacturers ranges between 12 and 18 weeks, we also consider changes made to the dress, special lengths, oversees shipping, and the inspection process.

When will I be notified?
Here at Bridal Suite, we notify when it’s time to begin your fittings. The notification is usually 2-3 months before your event date. All merchandise is kept in storage until your 1st fitting is scheduled.

Alterations – Sizing

How is my size determined?
We take several factors into consideration when determining your size. We combine our training, with the actual gown you are ordering, with the manufacturer size chart, perhaps with another gown from the same manufacturer that most closely resembles your actual size, along with any other factors that might be going on with how your measurements may change in the future (ie: pregnancy, surgery). Sometimes a customer’s measurements will indicate that they would be a perfect size 8 in the bustline. However, there measurements put them in a size 12 in the hipline. It is for this reason that all measurements are considered and a final size is determined weighing all factors. Obviously, if we decide on a size 12, alterations will need to be done in order to make the bust fit properly. What if we got the size 8 and we couldn’t get the dress to zip in the hipline, however? We want the dress to come in as close to your measurements as possible, without sacrificing the look of the dress.

Will my dress fit perfectly when I first try it on?
It is rare that any gown comes in and is perfect fit. The nature of these gowns usually means customizing the fit. The dresses reflect the size chart offered by the specific manufacturer, not the exact measurements taken at the time of the order. When your come for your fitting the expert alteration department will customize the fit .

Am I required to have my alterations done at Bridal Suite?
It is definitely not a requirement to have your alterations done at Bridal Suite. Alterations are a service we offer to our customers for an additional fee. We try to keep our service fees as low as we possibly can. The detail, styling and lines are very intricate and alterations are best performed by an experienced professional.
